Background Information
Regional School Unit 24 was certified by the Maine State Board of Education (certification letter) after voters approved the Reorganization Plan on December 9, 2008 (referendum results). RSU 24 became fully operational on July 1, 2009 and local schoolboards have generally been replaced by local advisory committees for each school.
Asrequired by law, a joint meeting of all present local school boards washeld on December 15, 2008. The joint boards elected Omar Norton asInterim Secretary and set February 12, 2009 as the election date forthe RSU 24 school board (minutes of joint boards meeting). Initial board terms were set and members were appointed to the InterimRSU Board. The Interim Board then met after the joint boards adjournedand agreed to use the Maine School Management Association to oversee the superintendent search
process (minutes of Interim RSU Board meeting). The RSU 24 school board was elected on February 12, 2009. Unofficial results are linked here. The first Board meeting took place onMarch 3, 2009.
