EEMS Project ASPIRE Newsletter EFFORT MEANS SUCCESS ASPIRE Newsletter May 2012 |
March is for the ARTS! Are you ready to be creative? We are looking forward to a creative month in ASPIRE. We are taking a break from our science and technology themed activities and getting back to some of our favorite art related activities. Mosaics, painting, beading, origami, and clay are just a few of the art mediums we will be working with. The second half of the month will bring a chance for each student to decide which kind of "art project" they would like
to create. With two weeks to plan and create, we are excited to see what they come up with! Honoring Dr. Seuss, Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd, Dr. Seuss' birthday. Take some time to read as a family. This would be a perfect day to check a Dr. Seuss book out of your local library and enjoy some time reading it as a family. |
The Afterschool Program Challenges You.... TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MONTHLY SCIENCE CHALLENGE CONTEST! Each month, a list of science challenges will be posted in the ASPIRE room. Students are challenged to choose and complete activities from this months list of options. Completed activities should be returned to science challenge contest box. Each student who completes an activity will be entered into a drawing for a $10 Walmart or iTunes gift card. Each time a student completes an activity, their name will be entered into the drawing. One activity = 1 chance or five activities = 5 chances ! ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE? _________________________________ PARENT NIGHT ART SHOWCASE...... Come see what we've been up to! On Thursday, March 29th, parents are invited to join us for our Art Showcase. You will get to see what kinds of art creations the students came up with during the month of March and the winners from our March "Food Wars" will serve a light dinner. In order to plan for this dinner, we need you to RSVP to your site leader and let us know how many people plan to attend. See you there! |
